Wherever you live in the world, it is likely that you
have had the opportunity to watch a crop duster at work.
These little aircraft and the larger than life pilots that
fly them are the working heroes of ag-aviation.
Controlling pests and putting in hours of time flying
high-risk circuits low and fast above the crops, they are
out there dodging trees, fences and power lines &emdash;
risking their lives to get the job done.
It seems they make the perfect towplane too, since they
now make their living towing $3000 to $100,000 sailplanes
into the wild blue for hire. Every glider port worth its
salt employs several, and on weekends spring through fall,
you can see and hear them roaring off the end of the runway
with glider in tow.

There is little doubt that
this is going to be the best-flying, most durable,
show-stopping towplane or duster - and its
competition-winning scale if you want to build in
the details.
We could think of no better aircraft to model as
our first scale towplane than the Piper PA-25
Pawnee. Not only is it the perfect scale tug, but
with Dick's plans and our parts kit for the
optional hopper kit, you can put it to good use
dusting the back 40 or dropping tootsie rolls and
your next club event!
We've followed Dick's 1980 National Scale
winning design in every way with the exception of
just a few items which take advantage of laser
cutting and computer aided drafting to simplify
your build and strengthen a few key elements in the
forward fuselage.
Tails and wings use laser cut curved outer edges
with notches to make jigging ribs exactly into
place a snap and cutting assembly time to a minimum
while increasing the bond areas of these critical
joints and eliminating or reducing the need for
gussets.
We have also ordered all of the special shapes
and dimensions of hardwood for you and include them
in our partial kit so you don't have to make them,
and you know your model is going to build as well
as the original. This is large scale at its best!
